The overarching purpose of the Intellectual Property Foresight Forum (IPFF) is to bring together intellectual property and media lawyers, postgraduates and others with related interests to discuss and collaborate on issues of importance in the development of intellectual property and media laws and policies.
The Forum will serve as a means to:
- review and exchange information about current research, including postgraduate activity;
- identify future research needs and opportunities related to policy concerns in a systematic way, and
- determine research strategies, including collaborative funding bids, and to facilitate closer working between IP and media communities both in the UK and beyond
As well as traditional academic outputs, the Forum will:
- produce reports aimed in particular at IP and media stakeholders,
- hold conferences, seminars and workshops tailored for different specific audiences (e.g. other academics, practitioners and business people), and
- establish a dedicated website.
The principal objectives of the Forum are:
- actively to promote intellectual property and media law research;
- to encourage and facilitate co-operation in these areas among Forum members and others;
- pro-actively to engage on topical issues of intellectual property and media law and to assess and respond to new and emerging challenges for IP and media law;
- to promote a greater awareness and understanding of intellectual property and media law nationally and internationally.
- to support the IP and media postgraduate community and early-stage researchers through networking and collaboration opportunities.
